– Illustration Rare or better: roughly 1 in 8-10 packs
– Special Illustration Rare (SIR): approximately 1 in 45 packs
For a 36-pack booster box, that SIR rate works out to roughly one SIR every 1.25 boxes. You should expect to see 7-9 ex cards and 3-4 Illustration Rares per box, but the SIR is not guaranteed per box. You might hit two in a box; you might go two boxes without one. That is the nature of pack opening.

Cost: A booster box (36 packs) has been trading in the $140-$180 range on the secondary market.
Average expected pulls:
– 7-9 ex cards (most worth $2-$10 each)
– 3-4 Illustration Rares ($15-$60 each depending on card)
– 0-1 SIR (could be $80 on the low end to $1,500+ for Umbreon)
Realistic average box value without hitting an Umbreon: Most boxes settle in the $90-$150 range in total card value at current prices. If you land Umbreon, the box value blows out completely in the other direction.
The math favors the house. If you are buying boxes purely for expected value, you are likely coming out slightly behind on average. If you are buying because the Eeveelution theme is something you genuinely love and the experience is worth it to you, that is a completely valid reason. Just go in with clear expectations.

Why This Set Hit Different
Most special sets in the Scarlet and Violet era have had a mix of characters and themes. Prismatic Evolutions made a focused creative decision: every card in the set is an Eeveelution or Eevee-adjacent card. That focus created something rare in TCG sets: a product where nearly every high-rarity card is desirable to the same collector base.
Umbreon has decades of cultural weight behind it. Sylveon, Espeon, and Vaporeon all have massive fan followings. The SIR artwork commissioned for this set is genuinely excellent, with the Umbreon ex SIR featuring a nighttime forest scene that stands out even among recent high-quality Illustration Rares.
The timing also mattered. Prismatic Evolutions launched as part of the lead-up to Pokemon’s 30th anniversary year, and The Pokemon Company clearly designed it to be a prestige product.
Current Supply Situation and Repricing Trends
Prismatic Evolutions did receive multiple print runs, which helped supply. You can find booster bundles at retail in many markets if you check the right stores. That said, the set is not as freely available as a current-in-print set like Surging Sparks or Stellar Crown.
The Eeveelution SIR cards are down 15-30% from their absolute peaks earlier in 2026. Umbreon hit $1,500 and has been volatile in the $1,200-$1,500 range. Sylveon has moderated from higher levels.
