Oregon City Card Shop Guide: Everything Happening at ORB

Oregon City Card Shop Guide: Everything Happening at ORB

If you’re looking for a card shop in Oregon City, or anywhere in the Gladstone, Milwaukie, West Linn, or Lake Oswego area, ORB Trading Cards is your option. We’re the only dedicated card and trading card game shop in the south Portland metro corridor, and we run a full-service operation: retail, consignment, weekly gaming events, PSA grading, and live Whatnot breaks.

This guide covers the practical details. Who we are, what we carry, how to get here from across the metro, and what to expect on your first visit.

Who We Are

ORB Trading Cards was founded by Mike Alarcon and Brandon Donnelly. Brandon runs the floor. He’s the one who knows where everything is, remembers what you bought three weeks ago, and will talk your ear off about what’s moving in the hobby. Mike built the technology infrastructure, including the consignment platform and multi-channel listing system.

We’re card people, not retail operators who happened to land in the hobby. That matters in a shop. You’re not going to get blank stares when you ask about a specific set, a PSA submission tier, or whether a card is worth grading.

What We Stock

Sports Cards

We carry a broad sports card inventory: baseball, basketball, and football across vintage and modern. Singles are priced on current market data, not wishful thinking. If you do your homework before you walk in, you’ll find our pricing is fair.

A good portion of our inventory is consignment-based, which means you’ll regularly find items a fellow collector priced to move, not inflated buylist-plus-markup pricing. That variety is something customers mention consistently.

Pokemon TCG

Pokemon is one of our strongest categories. We carry sealed product (booster boxes, Elite Trainer Boxes, tins), packs, and a singles case with rotating stock. We update singles inventory frequently, and our Pokemon singles and sealed section reflects live inventory.

If you’re building a competitive deck or chasing something specific, call ahead or check the online store to save yourself a trip. If you’re trying to figure out which current sets are worth buying or holding as sealed product, our Pokemon TCG buying guide covers Prismatic Evolutions, 151, Twilight Masquerade, and the current sleeper picks.

Magic: The Gathering

We’re a full Magic shop. Sealed product, singles, draft supplies, sleeves, deck boxes. We run regular Magic events (more on that below), and the competitive players who come through have built a real community around the shop. New sets arrive around release date, and we run prerelease events for major releases.

For current sets and spoilers, Wizards of the Coast’s website is the official source. We align our inventory and events with the official release calendar.

Riftbound

Riftbound is Riot Games’ League of Legends TCG (released 2025). If you play League and you’re curious about the card game, we have product and can walk you through how it works. We run Riftbound events at the shop. See our events calendar for current dates and times.

One Piece TCG and Other Games

We stock One Piece TCG and keep an eye on what’s gaining traction. If there’s a game you play that we don’t currently carry, let us know. We try to be responsive to what the local community actually wants.

Gaming Supplies

Sleeves, deck boxes, binders, top loaders, card savers, penny sleeves. If you need it to protect or organize a collection, we stock it. We carry Dragon Shield, Ultra Pro, and KMC sleeves. No need to order supplies online if you’re local.

Events

Our events calendar is the single source of truth for dates, times, formats, and entry fees. Bookmark it and check before you come. Formats rotate and new events get added regularly, so what’s running this week may not be running next week.

We host the core event types you’d expect at a full-service TCG shop:

  • Magic: The Gathering (including Friday Night Magic and Commander)
  • Pokemon TCG league play
  • Riftbound events (as the player base grows)
  • Prerelease events for major Magic and Pokemon releases
  • Whatnot live breaks for sealed product at @orb_tradingcards

New players are welcome at everything. If you’ve never played a format before, show up early and one of us will walk you through it. For a closer look at what prerelease events involve and how to prepare, see our prerelease event guide.

Services

Consignment

Our consignment program runs through a proprietary platform called OmniList that simultaneously lists your cards across six-plus channels the moment you drop them off. Shopify, eBay, Whatnot, TikTok Shop, and more. You get a real-time portal to track what’s listed, what’s sold, and what’s pending payout.

Fees are 10% on items over $1,000 and 15% on items under $100. No other shop in Oregon has this kind of multi-channel automated listing with consignor-facing transparency. Cards sitting in a single display case reach the daily foot traffic of one shop. Cards listed across six channels simultaneously reach buyers actively searching on eBay, TikTok Shop, and Whatnot right now.

If you have cards you’d rather have cash for, consignment is worth a conversation. Come in any day between 11am and 7pm, or call us at (503) 389-5404.

PSA Grading Submissions

We handle PSA submissions for customers. If you want to grade cards and don’t want to navigate the PSA process yourself, we can walk you through service levels, current turnaround estimates, and what makes a card worth grading. PSA’s website has current pricing and turnaround estimates by tier. We recommend checking those before deciding on a service level.

Bring your cards in, we’ll take a look, and we’ll give you an honest assessment of whether grading makes sense for what you have.

Buying

We buy collections. If you want a quick cash offer rather than going the consignment route, bring your cards in and we’ll make a fair offer based on current market. We specialize in sports cards, Pokemon, and MTG, but we’ll evaluate anything.

First-Time Visitor Guide

If you’ve never been in before, here’s what to expect.

When you walk in, the display cases are up front: graded slabs, premium singles, and featured inventory. Sealed product is on the shelves along the walls. If you’re looking for something specific, ask. We won’t be weird about it.

If you want to sell or consign, tell us when you walk in and bring your cards. We’ll look at everything while you wait. No appointment necessary for standard collections.

If you want to play, check the events calendar before you come. Show up a few minutes before event start time. Most events are open to walk-ins, but for competitive events with limited seats, preregistering via the website or a phone call is smart.

If you’re new to card collecting and don’t know where to start, say so. We’ll ask a few questions about what interests you (sports or TCG, collecting or playing, budget) and point you toward the right place. We’re not going to push you toward the most expensive thing in the case.

Kids are welcome. Families come through regularly, especially for Pokemon. The shop is low-pressure and not the kind of place where your kid has to stand six inches from the display case to avoid touching anything.

Stay Connected

The hobby moves fast. New sets release constantly, event formats change, and hot cards spike and cool off in weeks. Here’s how to stay current with what’s happening at ORB:

We post new inventory, event announcements, and hobby content regularly. If you want to know when a specific product is coming in, Instagram or TikTok is the fastest way to find out.
