1. Know What You Have Before You Walk In

You don’t need to be an expert, but a little homework goes a long way. If you have a large collection, pull out anything that looks old, rare, or valuable and look up recent sold prices on eBay. Focus on “sold” listings, not active listings. What someone is asking for a card and what it actually sells for are often very different numbers.

2. Separate Your Cards by Category

Walk in with your cards organized, even loosely, and the evaluation process goes faster. Separate sports from TCGs. Separate vintage from modern. Put anything you think is valuable in toploaders or sleeves. This shows the buyer you’ve taken care of the cards, which matters for condition-sensitive pricing.

3. Understand Condition Matters – A Lot

A 1986 Fleer Michael Jordan rookie in near-mint condition might be worth thousands. The same card with rounded corners, creases, or staining might be worth a fraction of that. Condition is everything in the card market. Don’t expect top-dollar prices for cards in played condition, and be skeptical of anyone who offers you top dollar without carefully examining the cards.

4. Consider Your Timeline

No appointment is needed for small to medium collections. Just bring them in during our regular hours (11 AM – 7 PM, seven days a week). For large collections, meaning multiple boxes, binders, or anything that would take more than 30 minutes to evaluate, we recommend calling ahead at (503) 389-5404 so we can set aside time for you.

How do you determine what my cards are worth?

We use real-time market data from multiple sources, including recent eBay sold listings, TCGPlayer market prices, and industry pricing guides. For raw cards, condition is a major factor, and we evaluate that in person. For graded cards, the grade and the specific population report data drive the price. We’re always happy to explain how we arrived at an offer.

What’s the difference between selling for cash and consigning?

With a cash sale, you get paid immediately but at a lower percentage of market value, typically 40-60% depending on the cards. With consignment, your cards are listed at full market value across our sales channels, and when they sell, you receive 85-90% of the sale price (depending on the item’s value). Consignment takes longer but usually nets you significantly more money.

Do you buy bulk cards?

Yes. We buy bulk sports cards, Pokemon, Magic, and other TCGs. Bulk rates vary by game and card type. For Pokemon, for example, we have different rates for common/uncommon cards, rares, holos, and reverse holos. Bring in what you have and we’ll give you an offer.

Are your events beginner-friendly?

Absolutely. All of our events welcome new players. We have experienced players and staff who are happy to teach you the basics. Our Pokemon League in particular attracts a lot of families and younger players just getting started. Don’t worry about having a perfect deck or knowing all the rules. Just show up, and we’ll help you get into the game.

Can I sell cards that aren’t in perfect condition?

Yes. We buy cards in all conditions. Obviously, a near-mint card is worth more than one with creases or damage, but played and lower-condition cards still have value, especially vintage cards and sought-after rookies.
